Energy Savings Scheme (ESS)

What is the Energy Savings Scheme?

The Energy Savings Scheme (ESS) is an initiative by the New South Wales government as a part of the Energy Security Safeguard to encourage organisations to invest in energy saving projects by providing financial incentives. These energy saving projects include installing, improving or replacing energy savings equipment such as LED lighting. In April 2020, the ESS has extended to 2050 with the energy savings target increasing from 8.5% to 13% by 2030 to ensure households and businesses can continue to save money on their bills by upgrading to energy-efficient technology.

How does the Energy Savings Scheme work?

When you invest in an LED lighting upgrade, we will calculate the reduction in energy consumption during our assessment. For each notional megawatt hour of energy saved, The Green Guys Group as an Accredited Certificate Provider (ACP) will create one Energy Savings Certificate (ESC). Liable third parties, such as energy retailers, will then purchase these ESCs. Finally, the value of the ESCs is returned to you in the form of a subsidy towards the total LED lighting upgrade product and installation costs.

What does this mean to me?

This means that you can get an LED lighting upgrade at a greatly reduced cost. To date, we have accessed over $60M in total in government subsidies for our valued clients. Subsidised upgrade with the Energy Savings Scheme plus immediate savings on your energy bills mean greater-than-ever Return on Investment (ROI) for your business.
