Orange Regional Airport is a key transport hub for the central west, providing daily passenger connections with Sydney and a base for a growing number of aero-industry businesses. The airport is owned, operated and maintained by Orange City Council.

PROJECT GOALS

Orange City Council is continuously improving the quality and experience of Orange Regional Airport as it is an important gateway for business and recreational travellers. In order to accommodate increased visitor numbers, the Council has invested in a $2 million upgrade which included a Solar PV system that will provide additional renewable energy to the airport.

OUR SOLUTION

The Green Guys Group delivered and successfully installed a custom-built Solar Carport PV System and two additional carport structures for Orange Airport. The Solar Carport was designed and erected to accommodate business and recreational travellers who are away on business and holidays. The Carport awnings and electrical infrastructure have been engineered to allow for an expansion of the Solar PV system in the future.

The Solar Carport not only protects parked vehicles, they simultaneously generate clean renewable energy, thus empowering the Council to manage their energy consumption and costs whilst achieving sustainability and resilience to the changing climate.

Fabricated from Australian-made galvanised steel mounting rails with an integrated water management system, the structure is designed to prevent water, snow, or ice run-off from the roof of the shade structure, thus reducing the risk of damaging vehicles and causing injury or inconvenience to pedestrians below.

Our team worked in collaboration with the Council’s preferred Electrical Contractors and the Airports expansion Project Team to ensure that the Solar Carport installation was delivered safely and completed within the specified time frames.
