Shoalhaven City Council

Solar PV Systems for Local Government

The City of Shoalhaven is a local government area in the south-eastern coastal region 200 kilometres south of Sydney with over 100,000 residents.

PROJECT GOALS

The Council is a large user of electricity (~35 GWh/pa) and much of this electricity is sourced from coal or gas-fired power stations. The Council aims to increase the use of renewable energy and improve energy efficiency, creating a more sustainable community, employment opportunities and resilience to climate change.

OUR SOLUTION

The Green Guys Group installed a combination of rooftop and ground mount solar PV systems across seven council sites. Two more ground mount projects and one rooftop system with microinverters are currently in progress. The Council has won the Towards Zero Net Emissions category in the 2020 Local Government NSW’s Excellence in the Environment Awards with its various clean energy projects, including the installation of these solar PV systems.

Darren O'Connell
A big thanks to the Green Guys team for your hard work and attention to detail on this project. It was a big challenge taking on 7 sites in one project, but I’m pleased with the professional installation. We have some top-notch solar PV systems installed now on our assets which should give us years of renewable power with minimal hassle.
